Women Empowerment

Entrepreneurship is an effective and innovative process, which generates employment opportunities and makes a better society. When women start enterprise, it boosts not only the economic growth of the country but also bring many favorable outcomes. First, prime minister of India, Jawahar Lal Nehru has said, "When a woman moves forward, the family moves, and the village moves, and the nation moves". Out of total entrepreneurs in India about 10% of entrepreneurship is comprised by the women entrepreneur.

Women always work hard, and they never give up. When a woman is economically empowered, they are:

- More confident
- Have social identity
- Feeling of achievement
- Have greater freedom and mobility
- Can take their self-decision and participate in decision-making
- Economic independence
- Self-motivated

Rural women can establish small scale business so that they become self-dependent and self-reliance. Women can start a business like bakery, laundry service, agarbati, jewelry, and pappad making. Establishment of the micro enterprise by the women is an effective tool for the economic and social development of the society. It provides employment to the number of women. Micro-enterprise is beneficial for the rural women so that they provide a better livelihood for their family. The primary aim of micro-enterprise is to alleviate poverty and provide employment, as well as engagement of women and poor people. While starting a business, woman faces not only the business hurdles but also the problems that are unique to women entrepreneurs. One of the main challenges that women face is the sociocultural barriers. Women's family is sometimes not supportive and makes many obligations that make women de-motivated. The family member should encourage women so that they can efficiently manage the home and business in a balanced way.

In India, many women are illiterate that results in the lack of interest and motivation to start a business. Educated women are self-motivated and bravely accept the responsibilities as well as risk. It is also true, India is a male dominated society and women are not treated as equal to men. Women face tremendous hurdles when they start their enterprise and sometimes they became the victim of violence. In a survey, it is observed that women became the victim of domestic violence because they earn more than their husband.
